Nagarjuna’s Letter to a Friend

  • Palyul Centre Uk 60 White Hart Road London, England, SE18 1DW United Kingdom (map)

We are very honored to welcome Khenpo Tenzin Norgay, resident teacher at the Palyul Centre New York.
Khen Rinpoche Tenzin Norgay is from Bhutan and one of the senior khenpos who was a top graduate of Namdroling Monastery in Mysore. He was personally sent by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche to teach at the Palyul shedra in Tibet, where during two years he also received precious and rare transmissions from the last generation of great Dzogchen masters. Those masters are no longer with us, but their authentic teachings survive in Khenpo Tenzin Norgay’s clear, unbroken presentation.

Khen Rinpoche brings together strict monastic discipline and warm accessibility: his conduct is austere and principled, yet his manner is gentle, calm, and quietly humorous. Fluent in English and deeply familiar with Western perspectives, he explains profound Vajrayana and Dzogchen teachings in ways Western students can directly apply and understand. For this reason, Penor Rinpoche appointed him to teach at the New York centre, where he has served since 2003.

This is a rare chance to receive authentic lineage instruction from a qualified, experienced master who embodies both unshakable practice and compassionate teaching. Palyul Centre UK encourages sincere practitioners to attend and benefit from this unique opportunity.

The topic - Nagarjuna's Letter to a Friend - speaks directly to our era of rapid information and instant gratification. Nagarjuna — the great Mahayana master — wrote to his friend King Gautamiputra about practicing the Buddha-dharma while managing the heavy and complex duties of ruling: a teaching in patience, skillful engagement, and wise restraint. Those same qualities are exactly what we need to navigate modern life.

This course strengthens core practice and introduces the profound view of the Middle Way (Madhyamaka) with clarity and depth. It is a concise and comprehensive introduction to the entire path and practice of Buddhism.

Under Rinpoche’s guidance you’ll receive systematic instruction that is both accessible to newcomers and deeply valuable for practitioners from any Tibetan tradition.  Whether you’re starting out or seeking to deepen an existing practice, this is a rare chance to reconnect with essential teachings and develop the patience, discernment, and steadiness that genuine practice requires.

We strongly encourage you to attend - for details see below
